At practice, I'm focused on learning the new steps and perfecting them, so I have no time to think about anything else. Performing, my adrenaline is a rush that only allows me to think about what is happening at that moment. On the dance floor, I am just thinking about what move I am being led into and what I can do to make it more fun.

By taking my mind off of the rest of the world, dance lets me make the most out of everything. I get to have fun, no matter what else is going on in my life at the time. Another member on my salsa team injured her foot at the same time as my injury. Because both of us were going through the same difficulties not being able to dance, we talked a lot about how much we missed being able to dance and why we loved it so much.

Luckily, both of us recovered, although it took much longer than we would have liked. Even though we were both miserable without dance to relieve our stress, the situation allowed us to appreciate dancing even more when we returned. We came back with a new outlook that dance was not just something we liked doing; it was a part of our lives. And without it, we felt incomplete. I recommended that she get a signature shoe, she trusted me and now she's more than happy with her choice of dance shoes.
