The John David Group Plc has long been established as the leading UK specialised multiple retailer of fashionable branded and own brand sports and casual wear, principally through the growth of its main retail fascia, JD Sports. The JD Sports fascia continues to be the group's principal operating fascia. Other fascias operated include First Sport and King Of Trainers.

The group's total portfolio of over 400 stores also includes a small branded young fashion retail chain whose principal fascia is Scotts.

The company has been 57% owned by Pentland Group Plc since mid 2005, a group whose principal interests are in Sports and Fashion Brands, such as Lacoste and Speedo.
