Thousands of DVDs are released every month; we select the best and most worthwhile and let you know about them - in our monthly film catalogue, on our website, in email newsletters and in the podcast.

MovieMail was started by Carol Hunter in 1996. Carol was never a film intellectual, just someone who really loved movies and noticed that most of her favourites were not easy to get on video and many of them were not made in the English Language.

MovieMail's first order was received on July 7 1996 (for Route de Corinthe, The Tin Drum and Le Boucher). At that time Carol lived on the Scottish Hebridean Island of Islay - not the best choice for fast delivery. MovieMail had a web site within 3 months of its start up. The site has expanded with the business.

In Autumn 1997 Carol moved to Hereford in England, taking MovieMail with her.

In 2000 we opened an office in London to house our publication and marketing efforts.

In April 2005 we formed Moviemail (Jersey) to improve our offering even further. Customer Service is still provided by our experienced staff in London.

In April 2006, we consolidated our two offices into MovieMail Towers, situated in Camden, North London.

In 1997 a management buy-in purchased 130 Gala Bingo Clubs from Bass. The management team led the management buy-in. The deal was backed by PPM Ventures.
