Sweatband.com was established in 1999 with a clear objective to provide the most comprehensive range of active sports equipment on-line.
In May 1999, a pilot site "sports-interactive.net" was launched and established the basis for the development of sweatband.com.
Sweatband.com was incorporated in September 1999 and began trading in April 2000 - initially covering just four sports; tennis, cricket, squash, soccer & rugby - with the aim of utilising the Internet to provide active sports players with a broad range of products across multiple sports at discounted prices.
In Feb 2000 Sweatband received major funding from Internet Business Group PLC, an AIM listed web development and web hosting company with an existing equity interest in the Company, to develop the business and launch a greater number of sports departments. In October 2001 the two companies formerly merged.
Sweatband continues to thrive and expand its sports departments, drawing on over 15 years senior management sports industry experience.
